The Person Behind This Site

This isn't a faceless content factory. What Does the Bible Say Today was founded by Alfred Hummer — a practicing Christian from Austria who spent years as a religious education teacher, helping children and teenagers connect the timeless words of Scripture to the real challenges of modern life.

Alfred Hummer

Founder & Editor-in-Chief · Former Religious Education Teacher, Austria

My name is Alfred Hummer. I am a practicing Christian from Austria and spent years as a religious education teacher at a Mittelschule — teaching children and teenagers about Christianity, Scripture, and what it means to live a faith-driven life in today's world.

What I discovered in the classroom is what drives this website: young people don't struggle with faith because they find it irrelevant — they struggle because nobody connects it to the questions they're actually asking. Whether it was social media, relationships, or moral dilemmas they faced at school, my goal was always the same: to show that the Bible has something real and meaningful to say about all of it.

This site is the continuation of that mission — now for a global audience. Every article is written the way I taught: starting with a real, current question, going honestly and directly to what Scripture says, and presenting it in plain language that doesn't require a theology degree to understand.

Our Mission

We believe Scripture speaks to every area of life — relationships, money, mental health, politics, diet, and everything in between. Our mission is simple: give you direct, honest access to what the Bible says, presented clearly so you can form your own informed convictions.

Scripture First

Every claim we make is grounded in specific Bible passages, quoted in full so you can judge for yourself.

Theologically Honest

Where denominations disagree, we say so — and explain the different perspectives fairly, without picking sides.

Plain Language

Years of teaching teenagers taught me one thing: if you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough yet. That standard applies to every article here.

Contextually Accurate

We never quote a verse out of context. Original meaning, historical background, and literary genre all matter.

How We Research & Write Our Articles

Transparency about our process matters — especially on a topic as important as Scripture. Here is exactly how every article comes to life:

Start with a real question

Every article begins with a question real people are asking — often the very same questions students brought to my classroom in Austria. If a teenager found it pressing enough to ask, it belongs on this site.

Go directly to Scripture

We read every relevant passage in context, cross-referencing multiple Bible translations (NIV, ESV, KJV, NASB) to identify consistent meaning.

Consult reputable theology sources

We draw on established commentaries, seminary resources, and denominational statements to ensure no major perspective is overlooked.

Human review before publishing

Every article is personally read and approved before it goes live. Research tools may assist in the drafting process, but a human always has the final word on accuracy and tone.

Corrections policy

If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the correction in the article. Contact us if you spot an error.

Editorial & AI Transparency

Some articles on this site are drafted with the assistance of AI writing tools to help with research organization and initial structuring. All content is reviewed, edited, and personally approved by the site founder before publication. We are responsible for every word published here. This site is maintained independently and is not affiliated with any church, denomination, or religious organization.
